Job Responsibilities
The energy and transport system is facing significant changes.
There is a major energy transition underway in society, which is expected to lead to increasing electricity consumption in Sweden. This affects all sectors of society, not least the transport sector. Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises account for a large part of the number of jobs in Sweden and are also part of the economy that is more vulnerable to external disruptions, such as higher energy prices, than larger companies with greater capacity and resources to handle disruptions. New ways to transport goods that can reduce costs include electric trucks, biogas-powered heavy trucks, and drones. Research on, not least, civil use of drones is still in its infancy but is expected to have a significant impact in the future if it takes off.
Within the framework of the employment, this area aims to study how Swedish small and medium-sized transport companies, with support from, among others, the public sector and urban planning that includes the lower airspace, can act to enable a cost-effective use of civil drones for freight transport. The project will investigate the technical, organizational, and policy challenges for the civil use of drones for last-mile transport, primarily within small and medium-sized industrial companies, and research possible forms of new support, changes in the policy landscape, etc., that these companies need.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be part of the national competence center Resilient and collaborate with other doctoral students, companies, and other stakeholders in an interdisciplinary environment. The project will have close cooperation with both companies and the public sector.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily focus on research. Your work may also include teaching or participating in other departmental tasks, up to 20% of full-time.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has obtained a doctoral degree in the field of energy systems with a specialization in civil application of drones or equivalent by the application deadline.
You have expertise in the energy systems area with a focus on civil use of drones for freight transport, or have expertise related to this area. You also have a genuine interest in energy issues in general and see energy issues as an important part of the ongoing transition to reduced fossil dependence.
Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities such as teamwork, independence, initiative, integrity, responsibility, responsiveness, and openness.
Good ability to express oneself in English, both orally and in writing, is a requirement.
Conditions
You will be employed for two years with the possibility of extension for another year. For more information, see the "Agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral researcher" (renewed 2022-02-01).
